KT's Saved Plum Tomato

Variety saved by a friend of KT Fox. I similar texture to San Marzano or Pompeii (though not as meaty as Pompeii). I will try to find out more about this variety.

Giant Tree Tomato

Vigorous 10 to 18 ft. vines have strong stems and heavy thick leaves. Globe- shaped, pinkish-red fruits, with few seeds, are smooth, tender and weigh 1 to 2 lbs. Indeterminate. Maturity: 80-90

Pompeii Tomato

Main-season, Italian, hybrid plum tomato for sauce and fresh eating. Indeterminate vines bear elongated, meaty, red fruit. Verticillium- and fusarium-resistant.

Caspian Pink Tomato

Originally grown in southern Russia between the Caspian and Black Seas. Thought by some to be "Queen of the Pinks," these prolific,1-2 pound, globe-shaped, pink-red beefsteak tomatoes that rival brandywine in popularity and flavor. One of the best known and best-tasting Russian tomatoes. This tomato is perfect for cooler climates. Indeterminate. Days: 80

Brandywine Tomato

An Amish heirloom that dates back to 1885 and is generally considered to be the world's best-flavored tomato. Plants look like potato vines with good yields of extra-large (weighing up to 1-1/2 lbs.), firm, clear-skinned, light rosy-pink fruits. Indeterminate. Maturity: 90-100

Bonny Best Tomato

An old-time favorite producing 8 to 10 oz. globed fruits that are solid and meaty. Bonny Best is highly adaptable, and performs especially well in the North. Indeterminate. Maturity: 72

Roma Tomato

(VFA) Roma is considered to be the most well-known paste-type tomato, perfect for sauces, pastes and ketchup. Its heavy crops of bright red, pear-shaped fruits are nice and meaty, with very few seeds. Determinate. Maturity: 75

San Marzano Tomato

A little later than Roma, with superb flavor in slightly rectangular-shaped fruits, 3-1/2" x 1-1/2", that are bright red and hang in large clusters. Holds well on the vine and in storage. Extra-high solid content is perfect for canning. Indeterminate. Maturity: 80

Principe BorgheseTomato

HEIRLOOM Determinate. This is the tomato used for sun drying in Italy. It is very small (1-2 ounces), plum shaped, and pointed at one end. Fruits are born in large clusters of several dozen, like grapes. They are meaty with little juice and branches can be hung to dry until leathery. In Italy they just throw the vines over a fence. We've had success in our cool, wet climate with slicing them in half and drying them in an oven with just the pilot light. Don't give this one too much water as you don't want juicy fruit for drying. 78 days.

Jetsonic Tomato

A Jet Star type with large, bright red, 7 oz. firm fruits that are oblate to deep oblate shaped, with uniform, green shoulders and smooth skin. Vigorous plants. Days to Maturity: 68

Limmony Tomato

Sunsugar Tomato

The ultimate in cherry tomatoes, this golden yellow beauty achieves a new level of sugar-sweetness and flavor, superb texture, and a tangy "true tomato" taste. Riesentraube Tomato

The name, which translates as "great bunch of grapes", describes its astounding number of flowers. As many as 350 flowers per plant transform into bunches of red fruits weighing about 3/4 oz. each. Excellent, full-bodied flavor similar to a beefsteak, in fruits barely 1-1/2" across. Compact vines, strongly branched, with good foliage cover. Heirloom. Open-Pollinated. Days to Maturity: 70

Rutgers Improved Tomato

A more uniform and slightly earlier Rutgers type - still unsurpassed for canning. Beautiful dark red fruits are solid, meaty and sweet. Smooth fruits ripen all the way through. Old-fashioned flavor.

Soldacki Tomato

Poland sends us this heirloom variety, memorable for its low acid and intensely sweet flavor. Dark pink fruits, flattened in shape, weigh about a pound and are packed with firm flesh inside thin skins. Indeterminate. Days to Maturity: 75 Heirloom, Open-Polinated

Green Zebra Tomato

(Solanum lycopersicum)
Green-striped salad specialty.
A delicious, tangy salad tomato, ripe just as the green fruit develops a yellow blush, accentuating the darker green stripes. The 3-4 oz. fruits are the ideal size for slicing into wedges for salads. Productive over a long season. Developed by Tom Wagner. Though technically not an heirloom, we feel this is the best place to list it. Indeterminate. Organically grown.
